Achievements

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that we acknowledge the unstinting support that you have extended to the growth of the Gurgaon Malayalee Association (GMA), rendering sincere services and creative guidance.

Gurgaon Malayalee Association was formed on 02nd October 2011.  The main aims and objectives of the Organization are to upkeep and maintain the great secular and culturally rich traditions of Kerala, communal harmony and brotherhood through its activities which are conducted without any barrier of religion or socio-economic status.

GMA is an organization focusing on the philanthropic values by doing Charity work.  We do recognize the values of humanity, compassion, affection and benevolent concern for the good of other.

We feel that it is our responsibility to inform you all the activities that GMA undertook since its inception in October 2010 and the future plans.

GMA’s mascot is charity. It could provide financial help to many people who were met with vehicle accidents and were admitted in hospitals with different ailments.

Many members came forward to donate blood on different occasions to the needy. GMA also came forward in meeting the post-death expenses of its members.

When a Malayalee business man and few others faced oppression from some locally influential people and goons, GMA played a pivotal role in managing and solving those crises successfully.

Honoured few bright Malayalee students with Academic Excellence Awards and Cash Awards.

By organizing colourful and varied cultural programmes, GMA could act as a catalyst in prospering our traditional values, arts and cultures.

GMA organized an Assembly of’ Malayala Bhasha Sammelanam’ in September 2011 at Gurgaon. Noted play writer and public figure, Mr. Om Cheri NN Pillai inaugurated this function. We are making sincere efforts to make Malayalam classes more effective and widespread.

In GMA's colourful annual meeting, varied cultural activities were organized. Many well-known personalities attended and graced the occasion. At the function, GMA released its souvenir, unique in look and feel.

GMA's focus on public health was reflected in organizing a free medical camp at St Xavier’s School, Rajiv Nagar.  It was useful to hundreds of people.

An "employment cell", targeting those who are unemployed and looking for job changes, is functioning very effectively under the banner of GMA.

A quintessential role was played by GMA in speeding up the enquiry of Cincy Sebastian murder case. Association took lead in bringing together various organizations and formed an action council for the same. We acknowledge the legal, moral, financial and emotional support of many in this regard.

Gurgaon Malayalee Association is open to work with All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) and Delhi Malayalee Association (DMA) on a case-to-case basis.

  A professional Tug-of-War competition was organized by the Sports Wing of GMA at Gurgaon. It also participated in many tournaments held in NCR and won prizes.

GMA managed to get UID cards for all its members. It was highly appreciated by other Malayalee Associations in NCR

GMA felicitated well known poet and the winner of Gyanpeeth award Shri. ONV Kurup by draping him with a Ponnada at a function organized by DMA in Delhi.

When all the Malayalee organizations in NCR met on the guidance and presence of Mr. Oommen Chandi, the Chief Minister of Kerala, GMA too made its presence visible and gave many creative and useful suggestions.

GMA has opened a website for the public to get in touch with GMA. We expect this being used by the people for airing their views and suggestions, and derive benefits thereby.
